COP26 Regional Ambassador for Europe, Central Asia, Turkey and Iran

 

David Moran is the COP26 Regional Ambassador for Europe, Central Asia, Turkey and Iran. He was the UK Ambassador in Berne from 2014 to 2017. He has worked in numerous economic, energy and climate policy roles in the Foreign Office, Cabinet Office, Development and Trade Departments and as ambassador in Central Asia and the South Caucasus.

Professor of Climate and Environmental Physics, Physics Institute, University of Berne
President of the Oeschger Centre for Climate Change Research

 

Thomas Stocker is President of the Oeschger Centre for Climate Change Research and Professor of Climate and Environmental Physics at the University of Bern. His research encompasses the modelling of past and future climate change and the analysis of polar ice cores. He served on the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) for many years, including as co-Chair of Working Group I from 2008 to 2015. During that tenure Working Group I delivered the comprehensive assessment report "Climate Change 2013: The Physical Science Basis", which provided the scientific foundation for the Paris Agreement.

Kristen Panerali focuses on enabling public and private sector cooperation to accelerate the transition to a clean energy future. She has 25 years of experience in the government and energy-related private sector. She is currently heading the Net Zero Carbon Cities program, promoting the policies and solutions for an urban transition. She previously headed the Electricity Industry. She has an MBA from IESE Business School in Spain.

In addition to the conference, a two-day hackathon will take place in Bern on 31 August and 1 September. During this hackathon, students will develop solutions to support cities in tackling the challenges of climate change.
